IV Sedation

Intravenous Sedation ("Twilight Sedation")

Intravenous Sedation, commonly known as Dental Intravenous Anesthesia or “Twilight Sedation,” is an alternative for our patients who need dental treatment. This is what distinguishes our practice from others; it is our specialty. Intravenous Sedation, also known as “twilight sleep,” allows you to feel more relaxed and comfortable during dental operations. If you like, your treatment can be done under Intravenous Sedation. Intravenous Sedation, sometimes known as “IV sedation” or “twilight sedation,” is a type of sedative that allows you to relax while receiving dental treatment. It will assist you to bear and forget treatments that are likely to be unpleasant for you. IV sedation will essentially assist you in coping with the stress of your treatment. You won’t always be sleeping, but you’ll be comfortable, quiet, and relaxed as you drift in and out of a “twilight sleep.” If you choose intravenous Sedation, a Board-Certified anesthesiologist will administer and monitor your IV sedation/anesthesia, assuring your safety.

How do you administer IV Sedation?

A tiny needle will be inserted into a vein. The needle will be connected to an intravenous tube, which will deliver medication to help you relax and feel at ease. A vein in a patient’s arm may be unable to support a needle for the duration of the treatment. The medications will be given and the needle will be extracted in this situation. In all circumstances, the desired level of conscious sedation will be achieved. Some patients may be sleeping again, while others will drift in and out of sleep. Some people with medical issues and/or on specific prescription regimens may only be mildly sedated, if at all. The purpose of IV sedation is to use the least amount of medicine possible to accomplish the therapy. The intravenous tubing is used to maintain a steady “drip” during IV sedation. If necessary, an antidote can be given at any time to reverse the effects of the drugs. IV sedation is a highly safe procedure! There are several “levels” of sedation offered in our practice, in addition to IV sedation. There is nitrous oxide analgesia and oral sedation, as well as nitrous oxide in combination with oral sedation. In other words, the anesthesia is then tailored to your needs or desires. All modalities are again delivered and monitored by a Board-Certified anesthesiologist in the privacy and comfort of our office. For the elderly, crippled, or simply scared, sedation dentistry is a fantastic choice.

Dentistry for the Elderly with Sedation

Oral health is more vital than ever as we become older. Periodontal disease can cause bone and tooth loss, which has ramifications in almost every aspect of our life. We need our teeth and gums to live full and active lives. They allow us to enjoy meals, facilitate digestion, and encourage speech and excellent conversation. Drs. (XYZ) are all committed to treating senior patients with compassion and devotion to their comfort and health. For various reasons, elderly individuals skip dental visits, including more serious medical concerns, fear about treatment, transportation difficulties, or fixed incomes. Fear and humiliation drive patients away from the dentist once their dental health has deteriorated to an unbearable level. Sedation dentistry allows Drs. (XYZ) to treat elderly patients who are ashamed or afraid of their existing oral state while staying relaxed and oblivious until “reawakening” to an improved oral form!

Dentistry for the Disabled with Sedation

Access to suitable dental treatment may be challenging for those with impairments. They need to locate a dentist who is both experienced and sympathetic and one who can give services that other dentists may not be able to provide. At (XYZ), we have the experience, cutting-edge technology, and commitment to supporting special-needs individuals required to give excellent oral care to our patients. Patients who are disabled may have additional obstacles in maintaining their dental health. (XYZ) meet these obstacles. Drs. (XYZ) are experienced in administering an anesthetic to special-needs patients and can alleviate the anxiety associated with poor oral hygiene in just one visit.

If you’re afraid of the dentist, don’t be! We are committed to recognizing the very genuine nature of your fears at (XYZ) clinic. Our experts will not only treat you with delicacy and care, but IV sedation will allow you to experience dentistry in a whole different light. Drs.
